It was idea of Prof Zahid
Yasin Hashmie, Principal Punjab Medical College Faisalabad. In a meeting with
Dr Khurram Raja & Dr Mohammad Irfan, in September 2012, he said, “I wish
that our students can have a dress exhibition in the college. Why our children
should go out to see dresses & to have entertainment outside?? We can
provide them healthy entertainment here”.
And when the EVENT
CALENDER for the year 2013 was prepared by the Student Affairs Committee of the
institution, Dr Khurram Raja recalled the words by the Principal & proposed
a Spring Festival, for the 1st time in the college. And during the
selection of the events by various student organizations, Dr Humaira Arshad
chose Spring Festival on behalf of Emed.
The Executive Council of
Emed had an uphill task when they started planning for the occasion. They had
no experience of such event what so ever. Never in its 10 years, had Emed ever
organized such event. They had no penetration in the business circles & no
team of organizers skilled in that.
But they started gradually
with hit & trial method. Guidelines from Agriculture University people
& certain other quarters showed the pathway & a small event in the
start became the biggest event in the history of Punjab Medical College.
Emed showed best team
spirit while preparing for the occasion & all the doctors, students,
nurses, paramedics & public members worked day & night for the
successful event that proved to be the turning point in the history of Punjab
Medical College Faisalabad.
