In continuation with the progress on the pilot project, the department organized another event of prime importance for the stake holders of police torture cases.

“Torture” in various shapes, poses one of the biggest social threats in our society & if state agencies get involved, gives even a bigger social threat. It has been observed that lack of awareness about the rules against torture remains the biggest cause in such cases.

Moreover, the technical bodies dealing with the cases of torture lack co-ordination regarding statistics of the cases.

To create awareness & to improve the co-ordination between various concerned agencies, a collaborative workshop on police torture cases was organized on Wednesday, 15.10.2014 in Punjab Medical College Faisalabad, with the support of eMed.

The workshop carried following objectives:

  1. To coordinate & collaborate between all the stake holders in police torture cases.
  2. To educate on the technical aspects of the police torture cases.
  3. To project the importance of psychological & psychiatric aspects of the victims of torture.
  4. To centralize the data of the cases.
  5. To prepare the recommendations on the improvement of the present status of the issue.

It was nicely participated by the members of all stake holders in police torture issues as doctors, judges, lawyers, police officials, media & victims.
