In Pakistan also, efforts are made to educate the people on the preventive aspects of the disease. On 14.11.2015, eMed & APDES organized an awareness walk in the institution of Punjab Medical College, led by the Principal Punjab Medical College, Prof Mohammad Al-Fareed Zafar & many faculty members, students, nurses & other staff members. The participants of the walk were holding informative slogans against the silent killer of the human beings. “It’s called silent killer because it usually awakens the people when it’s already too late & complications are fully set in”, told Prof Ahmed Bilal, Head of Medicine Department & President eMed & APDES, to a crowded press conference before the awareness walk. Media men had many questions to be asked from the medical consultants as ‘What’s the role of government in creating awareness?, How awareness drives can be more effective?, and How healthy lifestyle can be promoted in youth?’. Associate Professor Dr Khurram Raja briefed the media men about the efforts of eMed doctors & students in creating awareness in schools & colleges during last 13 years. A cake cutting ceremony was held in Medical Unit-1, with reference to World Diabetes Day & Prof Mohammad Al-Fareed Zafar cut a cake on behalf of the faculty members.
