Public Awareness Drives

Youth in Pakistan share a common love for the social services. Like eMed student members, the students of FAST National University of Computer Sciences are found very dedicated in serving the needy. They have formed a health society, “Silent Steps” & requested eMed to collaborate with them to create health awareness in the students & the poor locality of a nearby village. On Wednesday, 20.4.2016, eMed team comprising of Prof Ahmed Bilal, Dr Khurram Raja, Dr Ghulam Abbas, Dr Abdullah, Dr Hasham, Dr Maria, Dr Mohisina Nisar & others reached the University early morning. Principal & Director of the institution, Dr Syed Asif Mehmood Gilani received the guests & expressed his obligation for giving time to his institution. Prof Ahmed Bilal had a very lively interactive session on “Healthy Lifestyle” with the university students on hepatitis, diabetes, balanced diet, cancers, physical activity & hygiene. Students were very enthusiastic to ask questions especially on diet & exercise. The session was followed by a visit of eMed group to the university building & various departments. Village 128/GB, Thettian was the next destination where doctors reached to examine the poor patients after screening tests on cholesterol, sugar & hepatitis. Hepatitis B & C were found positive in about 11-12% of the village population which was a very high ration indeed, Patients that needed further evaluation were referred to Allied Hospital OPD on the relevant days. Coordinators of the event, Mr Shehzad & Miss Anmol Bilal had done wonderful arrangements throughout the day & dozens of volunteer students were very impressive in doing hard work in a much disciplined manner. Collaboration between eMed & FAST University will grow in the coming days.
