Candle light walk & lighting PMC Blue on 1.11.2008 (3rd DIABETIC MARATHON).

"Blue lights will illuminate the University of Florida campus tonight as UF commemorates World Diabetes Day.
Century Tower will be lit, as will the fountains near Tigert Hall, University Gallery and the UF Cultural Plaza; the north end zone at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium; and the Albert and Alberta statues in the Emerson Alumni Hall courtyard.

Blue signifies the sky that unites all nations and is the color of the United Nations flag.

United Nations Organization has asked all the countries to turn their monuments & buildings BLUE to show gloominess & sadness on the rapid spread of diabetes universally.

Continuing their programs in DIABETIC MARATHON, emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society, in line to UNO resolution, arranged a candle light walk & lighting the Punjab Medical College building in blue color. This was the first building in Pakistan which was turned blue.


The walk started from the emergency block of Allied hospital Faisalabad & passing through the institution ended at the administration block of Punjab Medical College Faisalabad.


There, Dr Lubna Asghar Ali Randhawa (wife of the Principal of Punjab Medical College) switched on the lights which turned whole building blue spreading the message of rapid increase in the diabetic patients.


The event was participated by large number of doctors including Prof Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Sohail Raja, Prof Mohammad Ashraf, Dr Humaira Arshad, Dr Mohammad Arshad, Dr Mussarat ul Husnain, Dr Faraz Saeed Qureshi, Dr Ghazanfar Sindhu, Dr Amer Hussain, Dr Ahmad Zeeshan Chughtai, Dr Shahid, Dr Tahir, Dr Mohammad Irfan, Dr Afzal Alvi & man others, more than 100 emed staff nurses, emed undergraduates from College of Paramedics, emed members from mobile educational unit of City Traffic Police with their Incharge Mohammad Sadiq, all on duty members of Rescue 1122 & emed student members.


Large number of print & electronic media members covered the occasion. The candle light walk after sunset presented a unique scene in the institution & event will be long remembered as very successful event in the ongoing diabetic marathon.
